 Kiwanis Club of Arlington

To learn more about Kiwanis and experience our club first hand, we invite you to join us for our weekly meetings, Wednesdays from 12:00-1:30pm at the Knights of Columbus, 5115 Little Falls Rd., Arlington, VA 22207.

What is Kiwanis?

Mission: Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.

We are the largest service club in Arlington, Virginia, and we are constantly seeking to enlarge and expand our membership.

Who do we Serve?

Our club serves the children of our community and globally in a variety of ways. We support youth leadership organizations in the schools through Key Clubs at O’Connell, Washington-Lee and Yorktown High Schools and a K-Kids Club at Arlington Traditional Elementary School. Through these clubs we promote leadership training and community service for Arlington's youth.

The combined efforts of the Kiwanis Club of Arlington and our affiliated Arlington Kiwanis Foundation funnel between $90,000-$100,000 per year to the youth organizations and other community educational and charitable organizations primarily serving the children of Arlington or Northern Virginia. Our members participate in several fundraisers during the year to raise a large portion of these funds.

In addition, the club organizes a variety of hands-on projects during the year such as bagging groceries at the Arlington Food Assistance Center, reading to young children in the schools, providing dinner to a women’s shelter and ringing bells on behalf of the Salvation Army for a week prior to Christmas. In 2007, we wrote holiday cards to 100 Virginia National Guardsmen serving in Iraq and included pre-paid phone cards so they could call home to their families.

In 2010, we plan to add several additional service projects.

We are particularly interested in recruiting new members who would like to help us with these projects.
